Hard sparring or fights lead to cuts black eyes and occasional concussions. Training is very intense so overtraining fatigue or burnout happens if you push too much without rest. The high physical demands can strain the body long term leading to arthritis or chronic pain later in life. It takes significant time and commitment to improve which can be tough with work or family. Some gyms have ego or tough guy culture that feels unwelcoming. Injury risk exists especially without good coaching or protective gear. Recovery takes longer as you age so listening to your body becomes important.
